Stone—Wuthering Heights Research

The novel I chose is "Wuthering Heights" by Charlotte Brönte. The character in this novel will base my typeface off of is named Heathcliff.

Heathcliff is an orphan who is taken in off the streets. He is treated horribly by everyone except the man who took him in, the man's daughter, and the maid of the house. He is a tragic character whom, after the love of his life becomes engaged to another man, the desire for revenge ruins his chance for love and happiness. He is a fully developed character who audiences continue to sympathize with despite his extreme cruelty.

Character traits:
Prideful
Tragic
Devoted
Rough
Intelligent
Scheming
Dark
Lonely
Abusive
Abused
Resourceful
Amoral
Vengeful
Rash
Cruel
Sorrowful
Handsome
Charming
Manipulative
Sentimental

  1. Definitely a very dark and bold typeface! He was always just so angry in the book. Always the dark stormy cloud, but in being a Bronte character he has a certain elegance or sophistication to him.

  2. I agree with Megan, focusing on the fact that he seems angry throughout the book, a bold typeface just makes sense.

  3. First, what a good character choice. A+
And I agree on the bold typeface choice, but like you said in your list of characteristics, he's also charming and handsome, so it would definitely have to be somewhat refined.

  4. From this description, I feel his typeface should be used as display typeface. For headlines and not really text setting. I agree with the above comments, his character calls for something bold yet that has a timeless class to it.
